How to Change Your Email Address

Learn how to update the email address associated with your Shelf user account through a straightforward verification process.

Important Note: You can only update the email address associated with your own Shelf user account. Changing email addresses for other users within the account is not supported.

Before You Begin

  • Ensure you are logged into your Shelf account to edit your email address
  • If you've only logged in via a password manager or keychain, update the stored email address after completing these steps to avoid login issues
  • The new email address cannot be the same as an existing Shelf user's email, unless that user has been permanently deleted
  • If you encounter any issues, support is available at support@shelf.nu or through live chat

To Change Your Shelf User's Email Address

1. Access Your Account Details

  • Log in to your Shelf account
  • Navigate to your Account Details page: https://app.shelf.nu/account-details/general

2. Initiate Email Change

  • Locate the "Mail" field on the page
  • Click the small Edit/Pencil button next to it

3. Update Your Email Address

  • A modal window will appear with the title "Change Email Address" displaying your current email
  • Enter your new email address in the first field
  • Confirm your new email address by re-entering it in the second field
  • Click to proceed

4. Verify Your New Email Address

  • Shelf will send a verification email to your new address containing a unique code/token
  • Input the verification code in the designated field on Shelf to complete the email change process

Post-Update Information

  • Password Remains Unchanged: Your Shelf account password remains the same. If you use a password manager or keychain, update the stored email address to match the new one for seamless future logins.
  • Multi-Session Logout: After successfully changing your email, you will be logged out of all other Shelf sessions across different browsers/devices. Simply log back in with your new email address and existing password.
